Thom Rozendaal
Artist; gouache and graphite
Though born in Holland, I found my home and inspiration elsewhere. I spent a couple of years studying in Santa Barbara, California, then moved to Italy to spend the next 5 years living first in Pisa, then Florence.
Now at 30 years old I am back in Holland, but the beautiful places I've seen continue to inspire me.
Working primarily in gouache, an opaque water-soluble medium, my favorite subjects are flowers of all kinds, closely followed by the natural landscapes of America, and the architecture of Italy. Additionally, when working in pencil, I love to do portraits.
I always strive for a relatively realistic and classical look, and try to choose subjects that would compliment that style. Still learning all the time, about art and more, I hope to keep improving and expanding my skillset.
